Robotics what a passion!

What can we learn from a robot? How effective innovative education and learning systems are? Is age just a number or is there a right time for everything?

Robotics is one of the most fascinating themes of recent years. Literature and cinema have drawn heavily from it, showing us both wonderful and frightening futures in which machines with boundless intelligence follow man in all of their activities. It is also the passion of Valeria Cagnina, Co-Founder and Mentor of OFpassiON, a company whose goal is to make learning fun and accessible to everyone.

The encounter with the world of robots happened by chance, a bit like all the things in life that we don't expect, but then turn out to be right for us. At the CoderDojo in Milan, Valeria discovered a digital plant made with the software ArduinoUNO. It was love at first sight, and from then on, she began to expand her knowledge for robotics through starter kits and tutorial videos on YouTube. The effort and the hours spent devouring notions allowed her to build her first robot at the age of eleven, a machine capable of detecting obstacles and avoiding them thanks to remote sensors.

A few years later Valeria spends the summer in Boston, at the Department of Robotics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as a Senior Tester with the responsibility of building an autonomous robot capable of moving on its own within a simulated smart city. The American experience made her realize that education and learning can also be challenging and fun, and for this reason, she founded OFpassiON, an educational robotics company that uses robots as a means of inspiration for helping people to discover, cultivate and follow their passions.

With her, at the appointment of illimitHER, we will talk about how age is just a number and not a limit and how it is important in life to be guided by your passions: nothing is impossible, like building a robot at eleven years or founding an innovative company as soon as you come of age.
